Cape Tribulation OzFlux tower site
Data from the Cape Tribulation site, Far North Queensland.

The Cape Tribulation flux station is located in the Daintree forest at the Daintree Rainforest Observatory. It was established in 2001 and is managed by James Cook University.

The Cape Tribulation flux station is located at the Daintree Rainforest Observatory:
16° 6'11.22"S 145°26'48.90"E

The forest is classified as complex mesophyll vine forest, there are around 80 species in the core 1Ha, and average tree height is 22m. Elevation of the site is 157m and mean annual precipitation is 5440mm. The Daintree Rainforest is one of the most biodiverse forests in Australia.

The instruments are mounted on a crane tower at 45m. Fluxes of heat, water vapour and carbon dioxide are measured using the open-path eddy flux technique. Supplementary measurements above the canopy include temperature, humidity, windspeed, wind direction, rainfall, incoming and reflected shortwave radiation and net radiation. Ground heat flux is only available from late 2015.
There have been multiple hardware failures in recent years creating large data gaps.
